Which courts do you appear before?
The High Court of Uttarakhand at Nainital, the Delhi High Court, the District Courts of Delhi and Nainital, the NCLAT, the Central Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court.
What should I do if a cheque given to me has bounced?
Under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, send a written demand notice to the person who issued the cheque within 30 days of receiving the bank's return memo. If they do not pay within 15 days of receiving the notice, a complaint can be filed in the District Court within the following month. Keep the cheque, the return memo and proof that the notice was sent.
Which court hears divorce, maintenance and custody matters?
In Nainital district, divorce and matrimonial petitions under the Hindu Marriage Act, maintenance claims and custody matters are heard by the Family Court at Haldwani; in Delhi, by the Family Court of each district. Applications under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 are filed before the Magistrate.
